Creative Journey - A Daily Dose of Creativity Week 11

Another week has gone by. I have been taking the time to care for myself and have been crafting while doing so. It is very soothing  for me to craft and so I do it.

Monday

I was teaching Monkey how to crochet. This was my second attempt. She did better this time and lasted longer but it's so hard with her fine motor skills lacking.

I also worked on my curtain. It's a tad too short so I was adding a tulle ruffle to the bottom.

And when the kids finally went to sleep I finally finished the stenciling.

Tuesday

I put the curtain in place, it really opens up the front hallway now. It's so much more bright and airy.

Wednesday
worked some more on the shell stitch blanket.

Thursday

I did some sketching which I haven't done in a long long time.

and I worked on the blanket some more.

Friday

I worked on a background I've had sitting for almost a year.

and worked on the blanket some more. I have realized that I don't like projects that take me longer then a week to complete.

Saturday
Did some more work on the blanket in the car.

Sunday
worked on the blanket some more while I helped Monkey with her homework.

I hope that everyone had a creative week and produced a lot of stuff. Hope the upcoming week is as creative.

Creative Journey - A Daily Dose of Creativity Week 10

This post is a little late in the day but it's been a week. Some of my health issues have finally come to a head and so I am off work for a few weeks to try and rest and get better.  This really sucks because I'm so use to being on the go and getting stuff done and it's just not happening.  I am taking Dr's orders to heart and resting, taking care of myself and spending lots of time outdoors getting some sun.  It's been a somewhat productive week with my projects.

Monday

I started sketching invites for Tutu's birthday.

I finished the sketch but after posting it on facebook my friends informed me that it was a bit dirty. I didn't see it until they pointed it out so I modified it.

The final product, I still need to get it copied and printed.

Tuesday

I crocheted a belt to go with my new dress.

Wednesday

At the Dr's office I made this flower while waiting.

I also started a shell stitch blanket.

Thursday

I ripped up everything I got done the day before and started it again with a bigger hook. Looking much better.

Friday

I had to fix up a throw I had made because the girls had pulled my not properly finished ends and it ran, Made a ruffle on it to join. As you can see I already had to do it once before. It just adds more character to it.

I started on a stenciled curtain as I want to redo the closet in my main entrance. The mirrored doors that were here when we moved are too big and not functional. I ran out of paint so I had to stop.

Saturday
worked some more on the blanket.

Finished the big stencils. Now just need to add smaller stencil in between in a different shade of aqua.

Sunday
Followed Dr's orders and kept my hands busy while outside. killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

I did managed to get a bit of stuff done but not as much as I normally do.  I hate feeling this way but this too shall pass. Just need to take time to heal.

I hope that everyone had a creative week and produced a lot of stuff. Hope the upcoming week is as creative.

Art Date with Kids

 Art work drying
On Saturday one of Monkey's friends asked to have an art date. So Monday night after work M came over and I attempted to do some mixed media canvases with the girls.
 Monkey working on her art
M liked each step on it's own and didn't want to build up layers so each of her 5 canvases showcased a different technique. Muffin and Monkey did some mixed media and some with just individual techniques.

We spritz smooch spray through stencils, we coloured with wax crayons and painted over with water colours, we stamped and we coloured with water colour crayons that we later activated with water. And when I say we, I really me the girls.
 Monkey's work
I didn't get a chance to make a single canvas because I was either helping the girls or chasing after Tutu or taking him off the table (he LOVES to climb). By the end of the night I was exhausted but the girls had fun and that's the most important thing.

M already informed me that she wants to do it again next week and she wants to learn new techniques. I love that they love it. And seeing that Monday is a holiday we can do it during the day so I'm not so tired.

What a great way to inspire the younger generation.
