Creative Journey - A Daily Dose of Creativity Week 18

So I am getting more active, not like before but better.  I do have to ice/heat after it but I am getting moving.  I was trying to get a lot of creative stuff done but I was also trying to get the house ready for FIL's visit so I didn't get as much done as I would have liked.

Monday

 I started a sketch of the family, but scrapped it because I didn't like it.

Tuesday

It was Spirit Week at school and it was dress as your favorite literary character, for a 7 year old it's Pinkalicous.  I turned one cute kid into her favorite character.

And I started a new doodle sketch.

Wednesday

Pinning a hem on new curtains for Monkey's room

And I restarted the baby blanket with a new yarn.

Thursday

It was crazy hair an dpj day at school. I think we got the crazy hair part down. I chalked her hair and they crazied it up.

And worked on the sketch some more.

I also worked on  the curtains some more but I didn't get a picture of it. I pt them up but I never finished hemming them. I will do that after FIL leaves.

Friday

 Worked some more on the sketch.

 And crocheted some more

Saturday

Crocheted in the car ride down to The Beaches

And I crocheted at the park while the kids played. And yes I am the mother that your curse because my kids take off their shoes at the park and our kids want to follow.  It's just easier then chasing them and trying to keep them on. I pick my battles.

And then I crocheted at another park. This rarely happens when I can do it so I took full advantage of it.

Sunday

Crocheting in the car down to Kensington.

The girls working on Mother's Day cards with their new art supplies; oil pastels, watercolour pencils and Mr. Sketch markers. While I tried to sleep off a fever on the couch (didn't work).

And I bounced between the blanket and the scarf today.  Need to get both done by next weekend. Hopefully that will happen.

I hope everyone had a creative and productive week, And the upcoming week and  as productive and creative.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our house. I put up the tree this weekend so we could take our family photos.  My cousin came over and we took each other's pictures.


Here are some of the pics we took. Sadly it was a cloudy day so we had to have the lights on and the pics have a yellowish cast.  But there are some cute ones in the bunch.

We  took over 155 pictures. I now have a hard time narrowing them down and editing all of them. I wonder which one will end up in our Christmas cards.

Playing Photographer

So a couple weeks ago I took some what I thought were good pictures of the kids but I'm learning that they weren't so good. Cute, yes but good no. Learning more about lighting and such but the only way to learn is to practice.  I've also been editing pictures. Holy what a difference it makes. I'm only using Picasa and Microsoft Office but its enough to do the job.

 

And just to show what a difference a little editing does.

Top picture is straight off the camera and the bottom is edited. The colours just pop now.

Brickworks

As I mentioned here, we went down to Brickworks on Saturday so we could enjoy the Farmer's Market, spend some time as a family and take some cute maternity pictures of my cousin. When rock and I use to live downtown Toronto in a cute little condo pre-kids, we use to drive past this place all the time. Not once did we ever stop to check it out, wow were we missing out.  What a great place to visit and take pictures.


It's such a neat place, you have both a urban and nature setting in one. It was amazing. we got there early at 8:45 and the parking was already full. We wandered through the famer's market, we picked up some treats to  each and then the photos began. I got some great pictures, then we wandered through the Weston Family Quarry Garden. We checked out the wildlife, took more photos and then headed over to the Chimmeny Court, where the kids water the plants,dug in the sand and played in the teepees. They had so much fun they didn't want to leave but it was starting to get really hot so we went back to the market picked up some fixings for lunch and dinner and headed home. The fresh strawberries and cherries we bought didn't make it home the kids devoured them on the car ride home.

I tried to get a picture with Rock and Tutu but Tutu was more interested  in all the dogs he saw everywhere.

If you're in the GTA or visiting Toronto it's a great place to visit. We can't wait  to go back and explore some more (and wear the right shoes for exploring). I think the fall would be the perfect time, see all the pretty colours.
